Consumers Energy, its contractors, Tuscola County-area landowners and local government officials held a groundbreaking event on Friday, November 1 to officially start construction of the company’s second wind park, the Cross Winds® Energy Park.

Steel Installation Begins on Daytona Rising

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The “rising” in DAYTONA Rising has officially begun.

On Friday, October 25, steel installation began on DAYTONA Rising, the $400 million frontstretch renovation project at Daytona International Speedway.

The first piece of steel was placed into the ground on the west end behind the current grandstand as the new structure begins to take shape.

Barton Malow's Use of 3D Modeling Software Improves Concrete Construction Efficiency

Barton Malow used 2D drawings to design its projects until 2008, when it began embracing BIM. Fast-forward four years to 2012, when a few experienced Barton Malow BIM users in the reinforcing steel department decided to investigate whether Tekla Structures—long used as a construction management tool at Barton Malow—would offer the team more capabilities, especially for reinforcing steel and concrete detailing. After a month-long trial, the group adopted Tekla Structures.

DTE Energy, Barton Malow, Building Trades and MIOSHA Sign Partnership to Protect Workers

October 9, 2013 – DTE Energy Company, the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA), the Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration (MIOSHA), the Michigan Building and Construction Trades Council, and the Partnering Contractors, signed a formal partnership on Monday, October 7, 2013 to protect workers during construction activities. The partnership goal is enhanced safety and health protection and zero injuries for workers on this facility project.
