Barton Malow Project Director Named Building Design + Construction's "40 under 40"

SOUTHFIELD, MI – January 10, 2010 – The editors of Building Design + Construction have selected the Barton Malow Company’s Brian Cummings, Project Director from among more than 260 nominees as a winner in the fourth annual “40 under 40” competition. Barton Malow named Corporation of the Year by Michigan Minority Supplier Development Council

MMSDC AwardSouthfield, MI - October 12, 2009 - The Michigan Minority Supplier Development Council (MMSDC) awarded Barton Malow the 2009 Corporation of the Year in the Construction Category for the fifth consecutive year. The 26th Annual Awards event was held at the Detroit Symphony Orchestra and Max Fisher Center in Detroit, MI on September 29, 2009.

Goodyear Sports and Recreation Complex Wins SWC Best of 2009 Honorable Mention Award

Wayne Wright Joins Barton Malow Company as Senior Project Manager

Orlando, FL – September 30, 2009 - Construction Manager Barton Malow Company has hired Wayne Wright to be Senior Project Manager for their Florida Healthcare Division.

Wright comes to Barton Malow Company with a bachelors' degree in Building Construction from Auburn University, and more than 12 years' experience in the industry. Wayne's experience is primarily focused on healthcare, including involvement in more than eight hospital/medical center facility projects throughout the State of Florida.

Sheryl Maibach, Barton Malow CMO, Receives National Marketing Honor

Southfield, MI – August 27, 2009 - The Society for Marketing Professional Services (SMPS) has named Sheryl Maibach, FSMPS, chief marketing officer for Barton Malow, as the recipient of its highest honor, the Marketing Achievement Award. Conferral took place at the SMPS national conference, Las Vegas, on July 16, 2009. Maibach is the first person from Michigan to receive the award. With more than 7,000 members worldwide, SMPS has awarded only 19 Marketing Achievement Awards in the past 21 years.

This honor, conferred by the Associated General Contractors (AGC), also recognizes the work of the Erie County Convention Center Authority (ECCCA), Starwood Sheraton Hotels, DRS Architects of Pittsburgh, and local labor and community organizations.

Robert Stempien, AIA, Barton Malow Director, Reappointed to State Board

Southfield, MI – June 8, 2009 – Michigan Governor Jennifer Granholm has reappointed Robert L. Stempien, AIA, to the State Board of Architects and as architect representative to the State Board of Professional Engineers. Stempien, senior director of business development for Barton Malow Company, will serve through March 31, 2013.

The Board reviews and proposes revisions to Michigan laws that regulate the practice of architecture. In addition, it investigates possible violations of the occupational code and recommends further actions.
