Barton Malow is MMBDC Corporation of the year - Construction Sector

Southfield, MI – November 11, 2008 – For the fourth consecutive year, the Michigan Minority Business Development Council (MMBDC) has named Barton Malow Company the 2008 Corporation of the Year in the Construction sector. The 25th Annual Awards event was held at the Detroit Marriott Renaissance Center, October 8, 2008.

Lee Sellenraad, CCM, LEED AP Hired as Business Development Director

Southfield, MI – November 11, 2008 – Barton Malow Company has hired Lee Sellenraad, CCM, LEED AP, as the business development director for Barton Malow’s Central Region responsible for the automotive and manufacturing group. His responsibilities include business strategy and plan development, industry promotion, expanding and strengthening operations-based deliverables, and bottom line sales and operational performance for the automotive and manufacturing group nationwide.

Barton Malow Acquires L.C. Gaskins Construction Company

Southfield, MI – October 13, 2008 – To accelerate its presence in the federal construction market, Barton Malow Company has acquired the L.C. Gaskins Construction Company of Jacksonville, Florida, and Warner Robins, Georgia. The new entity will be known as "Gaskins, a Barton Malow company." The acquisition was completed on October 1, 2008.

Bruce Watts Hired to Lead Barton Malow’s Chicago Office

Chicago, IL – October 9, 2008 — Bruce Watts, PE, LEED AP has joined Barton Malow Company as director of the Chicago office. He is responsible for operations leadership including the recently awarded University of Chicago, Joe and Rika Mansueto Library project.

Watts brings extensive experience in the construction industry, having served as both the contractor and client in his 25-year career. In Chicago, he has led projects and supervised the construction of education, federal, corporate, healthcare, energy, residential and retail facilities.

Pam A. Carman Appointed to National NAIOP Forum

Orlando, FL – October 8, 2008 — Barton Malow Company announces the three-year appointment of Pam A. Carman, FSMPS, director of business development for the company’s Florida regional offices, to the National Design and Construction Forum of the National Association of Industrial and Office Properties (NAIOP). Carman also serves on both the local and national NAIOP boards as treasurer and director, respectively.

Karmanos-Crittenton Caner Center Breaks Ground in Rochester Hills, MI

Southfield, MI – October 8, 2008 — Barton Malow Company, along with Crittenton Hospital Medical Center and the Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Center broke ground Tuesday, September 22, for the new Karmanos-Crittenton Cancer Center in Rochester Hills, MI. The 30,000-square-foot facility, dedicated to Vivian V. Stolaruk, is being built on a three-acre site.

Southfield, MI – October 8, 2008 — Barton Malow Company has been named to the CC100 list as one of America’s largest concrete companies in 2007 by Concrete Construction Magazine. Based in Oak Park, MI, Barton Malow’ concrete division is the second largest concrete contractor in Michigan and offers complete self-performed capabilities for concrete construction.

Southfield, MI – September 19, 2008 — The Michigan Minority Business Development Council (MMBDC) presented Barton Malow with a 2008 Corporate ONE Award, recognizing the company's business diversity program and support of MMBDC goals. Cheryl Bowlson, corporate director of business diversity, accepted the award, August 19, 2008, at Kellogg World Headquarters, Battle Creek, Michigan. Doug Maibach, vice president for corporate affairs, was also in attendance.

Walbridge Barton Malow Completes Detroit Metropolitan Airport's North Terminal

Southfield, MI – September 18, 2008 — The joint venture team of Walbridge Barton Malow (WBM) has completed construction of the Detroit Metropolitan Airport’s North Terminal, which began May 2006. The joint venture team was hired by the Wayne County Airport Authority (WCAA) in January 2005 to oversee the redevelopment project.

Robert L. Stempien, AIA, Named Senior Director of Business Development

Southfield, MI – Aug 26, 2008 — Robert L. Stempien, AIA, a 27-year veteran of the architecture and construction industry, has been named senior director of business development at Barton Malow, a, full-service construction and design services company.

In his new role, Stempien provides business development support for the K-12 and Higher Education groups, National Sports and Specialty Projects divisions, and the Ohio and Chicago regional offices. He is based in corporate headquarters, Southfield, Michigan. A registered architect, he joined the company in 1998.
