Barton Malow Earns Corporate ONE Award from MMBDC

Southfield, MI – September 19, 2008 — The Michigan Minority Business Development Council (MMBDC) presented Barton Malow with a 2008 Corporate ONE Award, recognizing the company's business diversity program and support of MMBDC goals. Cheryl Bowlson, corporate director of business diversity, accepted the award, August 19, 2008, at Kellogg World Headquarters, Battle Creek, Michigan. Doug Maibach, vice president for corporate affairs, was also in attendance.

Walbridge Barton Malow Completes Detroit Metropolitan Airport's North Terminal

Southfield, MI – September 18, 2008 — The joint venture team of Walbridge Barton Malow (WBM) has completed construction of the Detroit Metropolitan Airport’s North Terminal, which began May 2006. The joint venture team was hired by the Wayne County Airport Authority (WCAA) in January 2005 to oversee the redevelopment project.

Robert L. Stempien, AIA, Named Senior Director of Business Development

Southfield, MI – Aug 26, 2008 — Robert L. Stempien, AIA, a 27-year veteran of the architecture and construction industry, has been named senior director of business development at Barton Malow, a, full-service construction and design services company.

In his new role, Stempien provides business development support for the K-12 and Higher Education groups, National Sports and Specialty Projects divisions, and the Ohio and Chicago regional offices. He is based in corporate headquarters, Southfield, Michigan. A registered architect, he joined the company in 1998.

Jason McFadden winner of “40 under 40”

Roswell, GA – August 26, 2008 — Jason McFadden, EIT, project manager in Barton Malow’s Southern Region, has been selected by Consulting-Specifying Engineer magazine as a 2008 "40 Under 40" winner. The award is given to 40 building industry engineers under the age of 40 "who stand out in their academic, professional, personal and community achievements," according to the magazine. McFadden, 25, is one of only three winners under 30.

Barton Malow to Build Rymfire Addition

Jacksonville, FL – July 30, 2008 — Flagler County Public Schools has awarded Barton Malow Company a $14 million contract to build the Rymfire School 6-8 Addition. Construction is on an accelerated schedule, with ground-breaking scheduled for July 2008 and completion for July 2009.

The project, 90,000 square feet of tilt-wall construction, includes a classroom building, gymnasium and music building, media-center addition and central receiving building. Sitework includes a parking lot and storm water retention-pond expansion.

Barton Malow Hires Jim Nahrgang, PHR, as Vice President of Human Resources

Southfield, MI – July 17, 2008 — Jim Nahrgang, PHR, joined builder Barton Malow June 2 as vice president of Human Resources. He is based at corporate headquarters in Southfield, Michigan.

Nahrgang has been an HR professional for 23 years, all in the construction industry. Before coming to Barton Malow, he was vice president of Human Resources at Ryan Companies US, Inc., based in Minneapolis, MN.

Barton Malow Company to Build Gwinnett Braves Baseball Stadium in Georgia

Roswell, GA – May 7, 2008 — Barton Malow Company and HKS Architects, Inc. have been chosen as the design build team for the Gwinnett Braves Baseball Stadium in Lawrenceville, GA. The $40 million stadium is scheduled to open in April 2009.
