This 122,332 SF stadium sits on 42-acres and features 7,500 regular seats, 2,500 berm seats, 22 suites and 3,000 parking spaces.

Aggressive Project
The stadium had an extremely aggressive schedule of only 14 months for design and construction. Design-build delivery is the ideal delivery method for this scenario. From the beginning, Barton Malow worked closely with design partner HKS Architects to develop fast-track strategies to meet the goal of completing the stadium for Opening Day. Barton Malow closely coordinated the phasing efforts and managed over 800,000 man-hours, up to seven days a week to achieve this fast-track schedule.

Sustainability
To assist Gwinnett County in achieving its sustainability goals, the Barton Malow/HKS team implemented a sophisticated water re-use system to significantly reduce the stadium’s water consumption. The stadium is one of the first facilities in the County to use this system. The project team also recycled 90% of its construction waste.

Technology
Barton Malow used Building Information Modeling (BIM) software to simulate the construction and operation of the stadium during the design phase prior to construction. By detecting coordination interferences and challenges early, Barton Malow was able to avoid costly changes during construction.

Barton Malow also incorporated Multivista construction documentation photography. The Multivista system created a comprehensive, indexed permanent record of the entire construction phase, allowing Barton Malow to track and visually document progressions and provide detailed as-builts of the project to the Owner.

Award Winning Project
Gwinnett Stadium received two awards from the Design-Build Institute of America (DBIA). It was recognized as the Best Public Sector Building Over $15 Million in the Southeast Region, and went on to win the Best Public Sector Building Over $25 Million in the nation.
