Gateway University Research Park
Joint School of Nanoscience and Nanoengineering

Greensboro, North Carolina

Barton Malow/Samet/SRS, a joint venture, is providing construction management services for the Joint School of Nanoscience and Nanoengineering (JSNN) on the Gateway University Research Park campus. The JSNN is a collaborative project between North Carolina Agricultural & Technical State University and the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. The JSNN’s mission is to train students to conduct basic and applied research in nanoscience while influencing economic development in the Triad Region.

The $56.2 million, 87,800 SF facility is being designed by HDR-CUH2A. Features include:

  • Learning environments for three academic departments: nanoscience, nanoenvironmental science and nanoengineering
  • Class 100 cleanroom for semiconductor fabrication processes
  • The first ORION® PLUS helium-ion-microscope ever installed in the Southeastern U.S.
  • Classrooms, laboratories, high purity water systems and complex energy, HVAC and support systems.

Gateway University Research Park has a goal of LEED Silver Certification and 25% MBE participation on this project.
