Preconstruction is at the heart of all the work we do at Barton Malow Company. Successful preconstruction planning leads to successful project completions. Our preconstruction professionals excel at supporting all of our key market niche project types in a variety of delivery models, including design/build, hard dollar estimating, and conceptual estimating and planning. In fact, 100% of our estimating services are handled in-house by licensed architects and engineers, and former operations and trades people.

We believe technology is at the core of more accurate and efficient project delivery. Innovative technologies in use on our projects include 3D design coordination, 4D scheduling, and 5D estimating. We know one size does not fit all, so we tailor technology-enabled services to our clients’ needs starting in preconstruction with continued support throughout construction, commissioning and post-occupancy.

A/E Services

Our A/E Services team of licensed architects provides traditional architectural services starting with facility assessments, programming and conceptual design. They are supplemented with our talented Building Information Technology (BIT) team, experts in the most current 3D software, including Revit, Navisworks, Tekla Construction Management, 3DMax, and Sketch-up. The BIT team integrates with our project teams during design and into construction to promote the most efficient use of technology, tailored for each project.

Planning & Scheduling Services

Early development of the project execution plan requires dedication and years of experience. Our planners and schedulers are seasoned operations personnel in all of our key market niches. They lend a focused eye to project development with general project planning, phasing & logistics, manpower and resource loading studies, cash flow analysis, detailed preconstruction and construction scheduling, material, and means and methods research. Our planning and scheduling team enables early project decisions to guide project development.

Conceptual & Hard Dollar Estimating Services

Our staff includes experts in civil, structural, architectural, mechanical, electrical and systems controls. These professionals know their local markets and have the experience to deliver accurate project costs for any delivery method.

We’ve developed a database of project costs over the last 86+ years and leverage that data to develop accurate cost models for our projects. This database is also a tool used for value analysis and value engineering, providing comparison data to monitor budget development during the life of a project.
