Carrie Shaeffer, Blair Engle Promoted to Vice President at Barton Malow
Charlottesville, VA – December 14, 2007 — Barton Malow Company has announced that both Carrie Shaeffer, LEED AP, and Blair Engle have been promoted from project director to vice president, Eastern Region. Ms. Shaeffer and Mr. Engle are based in the firm's Charlottesville, Virginia, office.
Ms. Shaeffer will oversee operations for central and eastern Virginia, and Mr. Engle for western and northern Virginia. Their responsibilities will include executive planning and administration of construction projects, client satisfaction, business growth, initiation of new services, and staff development.
Though women have long served Barton Malow as administrative officers, Ms. Shaeffer is the company's first female operations officer. Her areas of specialization include preconstruction, high-grade planning, and coordination of research and laboratory facility projects. During 20 years in the industry, she has directed numerous contracts for both higher education and health care clients, including the new School of Education at the College of William and Mary, and the University of Virginia Wilsdorf Hall, one of the nation's foremost nanotechnology centers. She joined the company in 2002.
Ms. Shaeffer holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Building Construction from Auburn University, with advanced coursework from the Georgia Institute of Technology and Harvard University. An advocate of green building, she is a LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Accredited Professional.
Since joining Barton Malow in 1999, Mr. Engle has built a wide variety of projects under multiple construction delivery methods. He has directed complex building programs for the University of Virginia, Northern Virginia Community College, Virginia Military Institute, Louisa County Public Schools, Charlottesville Waldorf Foundation, and Washington and Lee University. He was instrumental in securing recent work on the campus of Virginia Tech.
He is a graduate of the University of Washington, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Building Construction.
