Barton Malow Company, working as a subcontractor to General Electric, provided General Contracting services for the installation of two (2) remanufactured General Electric 7B Combustion Turbines at the Detroit Edison Del Ray Station in Detroit, Michigan to meet the demand for electricity in the summer months.
The two turbines re-powered the Del Ray Station’s capacity by 150 MW. When Detroit Edison first purchased the turbines, one was in use in Arizona, the other in Indonesia. General Electric dismantled the units and shipped them to their facility in Houston for a complete overhaul. The Del Ray Station is located on the Detroit River just south of the Ambassador Bridge.
Barton Malow’s scope of work for the installation included off-loading the equipment, assembly and rough-set through final alignment.
Barton Malow Concrete poured approximately 6500 cu. yds. of concrete mix constructing concrete pilings on the project.
