VisTaTech Center
Livonia, Michigan

At Schoolcraft Community College, the VisTaTech Center is the new focal point of the campus. This 73,000 sf addition not only offers a nationally recognized Culinary Arts program and American Harvest restaurant within the building, but also houses an 8,000 sf multi-purpose room, a 300 seat theater-style Presentation Room with uses ranging from lectures, film or small musical performances, and a Business Development Center, which contains computer and high tech class rooms wired for every possible audio/visual device, office areas, and a Business Resource Center.

The Business Development Center provides a variety of training programs customized to the needs of area businesses, which aids growth and advancement to the employees and companies in southeastern Michigan.

In addition to bringing revenue to the culinary program, the American Harvest restaurant is open to the public and provides a real-life work environment for students, allowing students on-the-job training and experience.

This project was not only a success for the project team of architect Ghafari Associates and Barton Malow, who served a dual role as construction manager and technology manager, but also for Schoolcraft Community College, the community and future chefs everywhere.
