Barton Malow Company's University of North Florida Project Named Project of the Year
Jacksonville, FL — September 15, 2013 — Barton Malow Company received the 2013 Project of the Year by Associated Building Contractors—Florida First Coast Chapter for the Osprey Dining Facility constructed at the University of North Florida. Project of the Year goes to the best of the Excellence in Construction Award winners for that year.
The ABC Excellence in Construction Eagle Award is presented to the single most innovative, high-quality, best-in-class project in its category. Eagle Award winners are also eligible for entry in the national competition. The project was completed by Barton Malow Company’s Jacksonville office.
“It was a distinct pleasure to work with the team of Barton Malow Company, Smith-McCrary Architects and all their distinguished consultants to achieve this award-winning facility,” said Zak Ovadia, Director of Campus Planning Design and Construction at the University of North Florida. “Project team members, without exception, readily embraced the concept of collaboration and cooperation evidenced by the results currently being enjoyed not only by the students today, but also by the University of North Florida as a whole for years to come.”
As part of the new 4-story, 48,000 SF Osprey Commons Building, the new Osprey Café serves almost 3000 meals a day to the 16,000 plus students on campus. The 26,000 SF Café replaced the former student dining venue. To read more about the Osprey Dining Facility, please read the project profile on our website at www.bartonmalow.com.
