Business Leader Sandy Pierce Joins Barton Malow Enterprise Board of Directors
Southfield, MI – November 9, 2012 – Barton Malow President, Ryan Maibach announces that Sandra (Sandy) E. Pierce has joined the six person Barton Malow Enterprise Board of Directors. She joins two existing non-employee board members entrepreneur, Stanley (Stan) B. Dickson Jr., ESQ., CPA, and retired Chief Marketing Officer, Sheryl B. Maibach, FSMPS. “Sandy aligns exceptionally well with Barton Malow’s core values of Integrity, Partnership and Empowerment,” said Ryan Maibach, president. “She is a visionary leader and I’m confident in her ability to help us achieve our long term goals and envisioned future at Barton Malow.”
Sandy has earned respect through her work to influence positive change. The youngest of ten children, she was born in Detroit and was the only one in her family to graduate from college. Sandy holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration and an MBA from Wayne State University. She has devoted decades to paying forward the kindness and sponsorship she experienced through exemplary service.
Passionate about making a difference, Sandy is respected for her leadership skills and business relationships demonstrated by a long list of civic affiliations. These include chair of the Detroit Regional Chamber and director of the Detroit Economic Club and the Detroit RiverFront Conservancy. She also chairs The Parade Company board and is a vice chair for the Business Leaders for Michigan. Sandy serves on the Wayne State University School of Business Administration’s board of visitors and the Detroit Public Schools Bond Advisory and Fiscal Responsibility committee.
Sandy began her career as a part-time bank teller and worked her way up the NBD organization to senior vice president. She held various executive positions at NBD successor organizations. In 2004, Sandy accepted the opportunity to lead Charter One Bank, Michigan and Indiana. After eight years as CEO and President, having successfully branded Charter One as a household name, Sandy elected to relinquish her day job in June 2012 to consider other opportunities. She now serves as the Henry Ford Health System’s board of trustees chair and is the chair of the Detroit Financial Advisory Board, working to help solve the city’s budget challenges.
