At Barton Malow, investing in people is fundamental to how we build. By equipping our workforce with the tools, knowledge, and support to succeed and encouraging people to consider the construction industry, we ensure consistent, high-quality project delivery while also advancing what matters most to us—the long-term well-being of people. Barton Malow maintains a range of workforce development partnerships aimed at strengthening career and technical education pathways and expanding access to high-quality training opportunities. Our partnerships include Access for All, ACE Mentor Program, Associated General Contractors of America, Michigan Works!, National Association of Building Trades Unions, National Association of Workforce Development Professionals, SkillsUSA, Women Who Weld, Women in Skilled Trades, and more.

Barton Malow's Boot Camp, a paid pre-apprenticeship program for 18-24-year-olds is one of only five Multi-Craft Core Curriculum-certified programs in Michigan.

Barton Malow is a proud union contractor, maintaining strong, collaborative relationships with numerous international and local building trades and signatory to 51 collective bargaining agreements.

2024 AGC Cornerstone Award

In 2024, Barton Malow was recognized by the Associated General Contractors of Michigan for Construction Training Excellence, reflecting our ongoing commitment to safety and workforce development. This prestigious national award honors contractors who demonstrate outstanding commitment to developing their workforce and advancing the quality of construction training across the industry.

Sustainable Projects: Clean Energy + Environmental Stewardship

Our efforts are guided by a commitment to continuous improvement and grounded in the understanding that environmental stewardship is essential to long-term success. 

By the Numbers

We play an active role in building the clean energy infrastructure needed for a low-carbon future, including utility-scale wind, solar, and battery energy storage systems (BESS). To date, we have installed or are currently constructing more than 5,100 megawatts (MWac) of renewable energy capacity—enough to power over 1 million U.S. homes.

Community Impact + Volunteerism

Barton Malow’s commitment to community continues through the Barton Malow Foundation and our deep-rooted culture of service. Established in 1954, the Foundation supports charitable causes through philanthropy and volunteerism. One of our most celebrated traditions is  Community Week, held annually during the first week of August in conjunction with Barton Malow’s corporate anniversary. This initiative empowers team members across the enterprise to step away from their usual responsibilities and spend time volunteering with organizations across North America.

Community Week 2024

In 2024, Barton Malow 990 team members participated in 117 volunteer events, completing over 3,000 hours of service.

Inspiring the next generation of STEM leaders by presenting to high school girls at the Red Goes STEM event in partnership with the American Heart Association, where Barton Malow and LIFTbuild team members introduced students to careers in science, technology, engineering, and math.

Preparing students for the school year by providing fully stocked backpacks to every student at Cesar Chavez Preparatory School in Columbus.

Team members supporting unhoused community members by packing 1,216 lunches for Noah at Central through our Bridge Team Member Network on International Volunteer Day in Detroit.
Barton Malow Clay Shoot to benefit Fisher House
Helping military and veteran families by raising funds through our 9th Annual Clay Shoot to support Fisher House Orlando, which provides free housing during medical treatment.

Our 2025 Sustainability Impact Report covers Barton Malow’s fiscal year 2025 (April 1, 2024 to March 31, 2025). It encompasses the operations and activities of the entire Barton Malow Enterprise, including all five operating entities and both strategic partners.
