Barton Malow

Supplier Diversity

We actively partner with underrepresented businesses, strengthening relationships and creating real opportunities to grow together. We do this through award-winning programs that simplify engagement, build strong relationships, strengthen capabilities, and increase spend with diverse suppliers.

Supplier Diversity

At Barton Malow, we integrate supplier diversity into our core operations. Annually, we commit 8-12% of our total subcontracts to diverse businesses, which we track using SAP and Textura for Tier I and Tier II supplier spend. By providing mentoring, forming partnerships, engaging in joint ventures, and utilizing diverse suppliers, we support the growth and success of these firms within the construction industry. In 2025, we hosted the first Elevate Partner Retreat as a relationship-building initiative with diverse partners. Looking to the future, we aim to increase supplier diversity spend by 5% with trade partners through expanded outreach.

Supplier Diversity Policy

Our Supplier Diversity Policy ensures that underrepresented businesses have equal access and fair opportunities to compete for joint ventures, contracts, subcontracts, and the purchase of goods and services. Beyond legal requirements, we believe that engaging diverse suppliers is vital to our shared long-term success. Our goals include:

  1. Building mutually beneficial relationships that foster growth and development;
  2. Contributing positively to the communities where we operate; and
  3. Strengthening Barton Malow’s competitive position through inclusive practices.

Engagement Initiatives

Through our Community Engagement Program, we aim to create meaningful opportunities for underrepresented businesses by:

  • Streamlining processes to engage diverse suppliers effectively
  • Building strong relationships through local engagement across our offices
  • Raising client awareness of our commitment to inclusive practices
  • Increasing spending with diverse suppliers in projects and internal purchases
  • Showcasing and celebrating the achievements of our diverse suppliers

Our initiatives start with being intentional about using MWVBE firms, regardless of client requirements. Our Community Engagement team works directly with procurement and project teams across the enterprise to implement strategies that increase our success rates of business inclusion through outreach, continuous notification, updates of bid packages, prequalification, assistance, and more.
