Q+A with Mecah

What is your role at Barton Malow and what does your day-to-day look like?

My role at Barton Malow is a Project Manager. In this position, I engage daily with our subcontractors on site, ensuring that everything is running smoothly and according to plan. My responsibilities also include coordinating Potential Change Orders (PCOs) and processing Change Order Requests (CORs). Additionally, I am currently mentoring and training my Project Engineer on the various processes and procedures related to change management.

How did you choose a career in construction?

I took a few career aptitude tests in high school, and they all said I would like and do well in engineering.

What’s the most interesting project you’ve worked on and why?

The most interesting project I have worked on is the new Hilton Hotel in downtown Columbus. It was the largest building constructed in Columbus in over 30 years. It is also the largest hotel in the state of Ohio.

What stood out to you about Barton Malow compared to other opportunities?

Honestly, Barton Malow Project Executive Adrienne Sraver. I had met with about four other companies before meeting with her. She invited me to come to an eggnog tasting they were having at the office, and everyone was so friendly when I came in. I had the best feeling in that office than I had had anywhere else.

If you could pick any other team/department to be on at Barton Malow outside of your current team, what would you pick and why?

I wouldn’t change my team for any other team or project. But if I changed departments, I would love to be in Community Engagement.

What’s the most interesting part of your job?
