Building Communities Golf Classic (Cancelled for 2020)
Over the past couple of months, we have continued to monitor the public health impacts of COVID-19 and the guidance issued by the CDC. While we remain optimistic that Michiganders will continue to show improvement over the summer, we have made the difficult decision to cancel the 2020 Building Communities Golf Classic.
Our top priority is to keep you – our partners and friends – and our team members safe and healthy. Although we were originally able to postpone our event until July, we have not been able to secure a later date for this year. While we are disappointed that we will not see you on the course, we are looking forward to continuing to execute work safely with you this summer and fall, and we look forward to our best event yet in 2021!
About the Event
Building Communities Golf Classic kicked off our fundraising efforts in 2014, raising more than $250,000 in revenue at Meadowbrook Country Club in Northville, Michigan. The continued growth and success of the event – it has nearly doubled in size and revenue since – is largely due to the incredible support from our vendors, subcontractors, and partners who sponsor and attend each year. Two major beneficiaries are selected every year to receive a donation of $25,000. We also ask our sponsors for their charity of choice and make a $500 donation to the charity in their name. Beneficiaries over the years have included: ACE Mentor Program, American Heart Association, Beaumont Foundation, Children’s Hospital of Michigan Foundation, Detroit PAL, Ilitch Charities, Michigan Science Center, NF Forward, Randolph Technical Career Center, and United Way.
