Jackie Robinson Ballpark Renovation Project Tops Out

Jackie Robinson Ballpark topping out

Construction on the $30-million design-build project began in 2024 and is expected to conclude in early 2026.

On Monday, July 21, construction workers placed the last steel roof beam on Jackie Robinson Ballpark’s forthcoming 30,000-SF Player Development Facility in Daytona Beach, Florida. The milestone marks the completion of the building’s structural framing and was celebrated by City of Daytona Beach officials, community members, and Daytona Tortugas representatives.

Construction on the $30-million design-build project began in 2024 and is expected to conclude early next year.

In addition to the construction of the Player Development Facility, several other renovations are taking place on site to enhance the experience for both fans and athletes, blending state-of-the-art upgrades while maintaining the ballpark’s rich history. Included are new home and away clubhouses, indoor batting cages and fitness areas, upgraded dugouts and accessible parking, and new team stores, office space, club seating, and infrastructure improvements.

As the oldest ballpark in Minor League Baseball, it’s also where Jackie Robinson integrated professional baseball when playing for the Brooklyn Dodgers’ Triple-A affiliate. Formerly City Island Ballpark, the venue was renamed Jackie Robinson Ballpark in 1990, two years after being added to the National Register of Historic Places.
