Barton Malow Senior Project Manager Rachel Austin has been named among Crain’s Grand Rapids 2026 “Notable Leaders in Architecture, Engineering & Construction,” an annual list that recognizes outstanding professionals making an impact in the AEC industry.
Honorees are selected by Crain’s Grand Rapids editors and judged on their demonstrated ability to drive innovation and impact in architecture, engineering, and construction, leading their industries into the future by adapting to emerging markets and mentoring the next generation.
With over 20 years of experience in the construction industry, Rachel has held a variety of leadership roles spanning operations, strategy, corporate trades, and management. In her role at Barton Malow, Rachel serves as liaison between project delivery and legal, connecting the dots between desired project outcomes and contract documents to ensure clarity among project stakeholders on several energy projects across West Michigan.
Since she joined Barton Malow in 2024, Rachel has been instrumental in building out the West Michigan renewable energy team—expanding its capacity to meet the region’s growing demand for sustainable construction.
Outside of her role, Rachel serves as chair of the Kent Career Technical Center Applied Construction Technology Advisory Board, chair of the West Michigan Works Construction Careers Council, and member of the Ottawa Area Intermediate School District Construction Program Advisory Board. She is also a graduate of Leadership Midland and West Coast Leadership Programs.
