Superintendent Gary Ey Elected to NCARB Board of Directors

Barton Malow Senior Superintendent Gary Ey was recently elected to the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards (NCARB) FY21 Board of Directors. Gary, who is the only construction professional currently active with the organization, will serve a term as Public Director after winning a contested election for the seat.

The Board, which is made up of volunteers from State Architecture Boards from around the country and is elected annually, was decided at the recent NCARB 2020 Annual Business Meeting, which was held virtually. To serve on the Board of Directors, individuals must have previously served on or currently serve on one of the United States’ 55 architectural licensing boards. Gary has served on the Maryland State Board of Architects for the past 17 years. Service on a licensing board is obtained through appointment by a state Governor or other elected entity.

The NCARB works with the State Boards of Architects in 55 jurisdictions to administer architect examinations, track aspiring architects experience and education, and create model law as it relates to the practice of architecture and license reciprocity throughout the jurisdictions.
