The Vanderbilt University FirstBank Stadium Renovation continues to receive recognition within the construction industry. AGC of Middle Tennessee honored the project with an Award of Excellence at its annual Build Tennessee Awards ceremony on Thursday, February 19.

The renovation of the Vanderbilt Commodores’ iconic football stadium modernized a historic city venue and enhanced the fan experience while maintaining full program operations. Working alongside Vanderbilt Athletics, the Barton Malow team delivered a transformative mix of renovation and new construction that reshaped the stadium experience for student‑athletes, fans, and the broader campus community.
The project transformed the stadium’s core facilities by upgrading visitor locker rooms, improving campus-connecting infrastructure, and modernizing press and broadcast spaces to meet SEC standards. Two new end zones anchor the revitalized stadium: the North End Zone adds hospitality and loge seating while housing the Huber Center Basketball Practice Facility, and the South End Zone serves as a year-round hub with football facilities, team dining, premium seating, and hospitality spaces for both gameday and daily use.
Presented by the AGC’s Middle Tennessee chapter, the Build Tennessee Awards celebrate construction projects that exemplify excellence in quality, innovation, and execution across the state The Huber Center was also recognized for this award in 2025, as well as by ENR and AIA Middle Tennessee.
This recognition reflects the dedication and collaboration of the entire project team and reinforces Barton Malow’s continued commitment to delivering high‑quality, innovative construction solutions for higher education and athletic facilities.
