Breaking ground at John R. Lewis Elementary

Impacting people, projects and communities never stops at Barton Malow.

On March 29, Barton Malow and AECOM, with officials from the DeKalb County School District, DeKalb County, City of Brookhaven, faculty and students from Lewis Elementary School gathered to celebrate a joyous moment for the community: breaking ground on a new place to learn, laugh and play.

The 160,000 SF elementary school is first new construction K-12 project in the city of Brookhaven since 1972. There have been seven parades and numerous fundraisers. Nearly 900 students will be attending John R. Lewis Elementary School in August 2019. The school will also give access to the renovated SkyLand Park. As a National Beta School of Merit, John R. Lewis' students and faculty are beyond excited for Barton Malow, CGLS, and AECOM's collaborative effort to make their dream a reality. Building with the American Spirit .
