Celebrating the New 'Old' Orchard School

Toledo Public Schools Old Orchard Elementary School was recently highlighted on Ohio’s Channel 13-ABC News when teachers, students, parents and alumni gathered to celebrate the New Old Orchard School. The new school is built to LEED standards with each window containing a shelf diffuser to divert sunlight into the classroom where sensors automatically dim the lights. The new school will house students from kindergarten through eighth grade and incorporate butterfly and vegetable gardens into the curriculum.

Florida Hospital Nicholson Center for Surgical Advancement Tops Out

Barton Malow just passed a very important milestone for the Florida Hospital Nicholson Center for Surgical Advancement (NCSA). Awarded in August of 2010, Barton Malow is performing Construction Management Services on this state of the art project, on the Hospital’s Celebration Health Campus. The project topped out on April 4, 2011.

The BIM process at Severstal NA

Building Information Modeling (BIM) has been a key factor in the Severstal North America PLTCM project. Barton Malow initially used BIM in the pre-construction process, the model verified quantities and logistics planning for all trades to ensure our schedule was accurate. Once awarded, all subcontractors utilized BIM for coordination as well as to develop their shop drawings and fabricate from the model. SeverStal realized a $900,000 savings in quantity verification as bid process and a $10 million savings in interference resolution.

CASE STUDY: Autodesk BIM software used on steel production lines at Severstal Dearborn Plant

Two steel production lines currently under construction for the steelmaker Severstal North America Dearborn (Severstal Dearborn) illustrate Barton Malow’s proactive approach to project delivery. To help manage the projects, Barton Malow uses Building Information Modeling (BIM) software from Autodesk, including Autodesk® Navisworks® Manage, Autodesk® Revit® Structure, Autodesk® Revit® Architecture, and Autodesk® Revit® MEP software. Playing a key role from preconstruction to handover to the client, BIM is an integrated process that has helped Barton Malow throughout this project.

Delivering the Promise at L'Anse Creuse Public Schools

In May 2005 the community of L’Anse Creuse Public Schools voted and passed a $210 million bond program. The Barton Malow project team was completing work on the 2002 Bond Program, so they were eager to start work that first summer on our 6th bond program with this client.

In their efforts of “Delivering the Promise" to the L’Anse Creuse community, throughout this bond program the project team has successfully completed work on 53 bid packages, passed 3 MIOSHA visits without any violations and had each school building open on time for the first day of school 6 years and counting.

Groundbreaking on StarTex Power Field

Construction of the new home of the Sugar Land Skeeters officially begun with the groundbreaking of StarTex Power Field. The new ballpark is expected to open for the 2012 season.
