Robert Stempien, AIA, Barton Malow Director, Reappointed to State Board

Southfield, MI – June 8, 2009 – Michigan Governor Jennifer Granholm has reappointed Robert L. Stempien, AIA, to the State Board of Architects and as architect representative to the State Board of Professional Engineers. Stempien, senior director of business development for Barton Malow Company, will serve through March 31, 2013.

The Board reviews and proposes revisions to Michigan laws that regulate the practice of architecture. In addition, it investigates possible violations of the occupational code and recommends further actions.

Gwinnett County’s new state-of-the-art venue, Gwinnett Stadium, will officially open to the public on Friday, April 17 when the Gwinnett Braves take on the Norfolk Tides, for the opening of a 10-game home stand.

Barton Malow Company and HKS Architects, Inc. served as the design/build team for the one-of-a-kind Triple-A stadium.

Baxa is New VP, Preconstruction, at Barton Malow

Southfield, MI – March 29, 2009 - Jeffrey Baxa has been promoted to vice president, preconstruction, at Barton Malow, a full-service construction and design company.

In his new role, Jeff oversees the 67 professionals who perform preconstruction and architectural/ engineering services, including estimating, planning, scheduling and design. He will continue to lead the development of new and enhanced processes and procedures, to assure consistency throughout the company, on a national level.

Southfield, MI – November 11, 2008 – For the fourth consecutive year, the Michigan Minority Business Development Council (MMBDC) has named Barton Malow Company the 2008 Corporation of the Year in the Construction sector. Southfield, MI – November 11, 2008 – Barton Malow Company has hired Lee Sellenraad, CCM, LEED AP, as the business development director for Barton Malow’s Central Region responsible for the automotive and manufacturing group. His responsibilities include business strategy and plan development, industry promotion, expanding and strengthening operations-based deliverables, and bottom line sales and operational performance for the automotive and manufacturing group nationwide.

Barton Malow Acquires L.C. Gaskins Construction Company

Southfield, MI – October 13, 2008 – To accelerate its presence in the federal construction market, Barton Malow Company has acquired the L.C. Gaskins Construction Company of Jacksonville, Florida, and Warner Robins, Georgia. The new entity will be known as "Gaskins, a Barton Malow company." The acquisition was completed on October 1, 2008.

Bruce Watts Hired to Lead Barton Malow’s Chicago Office

Chicago, IL – October 9, 2008 — Bruce Watts, PE, LEED AP has joined Barton Malow Company as director of the Chicago office. He is responsible for operations leadership including the recently awarded University of Chicago, Joe and Rika Mansueto Library project.

Watts brings extensive experience in the construction industry, having served as both the contractor and client in his 25-year career. In Chicago, he has led projects and supervised the construction of education, federal, corporate, healthcare, energy, residential and retail facilities.

Pam A. Carman Appointed to National NAIOP Forum

Orlando, FL – October 8, 2008 — Barton Malow Company announces the three-year appointment of Pam A. Carman, FSMPS, director of business development for the company’s Florida regional offices, to the National Design and Construction Forum of the National Association of Industrial and Office Properties (NAIOP). Carman also serves on both the local and national NAIOP boards as treasurer and director, respectively.
