Oldest GM Assembly Plant in US Gets $900M Investment in Flint

UAW Region 1-D Director Gerald Kariem says, "It's great day. It's a great day. It's a great day. GM is making a powerball-type investment in Flint."

A plant that's produced more than 13 million vehicles, is about to make millions more.

General Motors starts construction on the new GM Flint Assembly Body Shop. The $900 million project kicked off with an opportunity to see renderings of the future body shop.

The plant was built in 1947 and it employs more than 2,800 workers.

MSU Hosts Event to Call Attention to Construction-Site Falls

As part of the U.S. Department of Labor’s OSHA National Safety Stand-Down to Prevent Falls in Construction, Michigan State University will host a stand-down event Wednesday at its Facility for Rare Isotope Beams construction site.

FRIB is under construction on the MSU campus and will be a U.S. Department of Energy Office of Science scientific user facility, supporting the Office of Nuclear Physics.

Barton Malow Receives Prestigious Architectural Engineering Institute Awards

The American Society of Civil Engineers' (ASCE) Architectural Engineering Institute (AEI) honored 11 organizations that work within the architectural engineering industry with professional project awards at the inaugural AEI 2016 FORUM. Barton Malow received two Construction Management and Methods Awards: an Award of Excellence for the Daytona Rising at Daytona International Speedway project and an Award of Merit for the Coppin State Science & Technology Center.

A band of Barton Malow employees has spent the past three years of their lives working to build the nearly mile-long, $400 million Daytona Rising stadium project at Daytona International Speedway.

Michigan Firms Complete Historic Daytona International Speedway Renovation

Southfield-based contractor Barton Malow Co. and Detroit-based architectural design firm Rossetti have completed work on Daytona Rising, a $400 million renovation of the Daytona International Speedway in Florida ahead of the 2016 Daytona 500 set for Feb. 21.
