Preconstruction is at the heart of all the work we do at Barton Malow Company. Successful preconstruction planning leads to successful project completions. Our preconstruction professionals excel at supporting all of our key market niche project types in a variety of delivery models, including design/build, hard dollar estimating, and conceptual estimating and planning. In fact, 100% of our estimating services are handled in-house by licensed architects and engineers, and former operations and trades people.
We believe technology is essential to accurate and efficient project delivery. Our preconstruction professionals use up-to-date technology for everything from organizing bids to preparing estimates with BIM quantities, to project schedules and logistics planning in 3D. We know one size does not fit all, so we tailor technology-enabled services to our clients’ needs starting in preconstruction with continued support throughout construction, commissioning and occupancy.
Building Information Modeling during preconstruction provides material quantities from computer models for estimating, 3D logistics planning and simulation and most importantly, 3D construction coordination. 3D Construction Coordination delivers the most benefit when it is focused not just on correcting collisions, but on project constructability and building relationships with subcontractors. Our BIM team, use the most current 3D software, including Revit, Navisworks, Tekla, 3DsMax, and Sketch-up. The BIM team integrates with our project teams during design and into construction to promote the most efficient use of technology, tailored for each project.
Planning & Scheduling Services
Early development of the project execution plan requires dedication and years of experience. Our planners and schedulers are seasoned operations personnel in all of our key market niches. They lend a focused eye to project development with general project planning, phasing & logistics, manpower and resource loading studies, cash flow analysis, detailed preconstruction and construction scheduling, material, and means and methods research. Our planning and scheduling team enables early project decisions to guide project development.
Conceptual & Hard Dollar Estimating Services
Our staff includes experts in civil, structural, architectural, mechanical, electrical and systems controls. These professionals know their local markets and have the experience to deliver accurate project costs for any delivery method.
We’ve developed a database of project costs over the last 80 years and leverage that data to develop accurate cost models for our projects. This database is also a tool used for value analysis and value engineering, providing comparison data to monitor budget development during the life of a project.
