The Center for Allied Health and Athletics at Chesapeake College is a new facility comprised of a complete renovation to the existing 37,611 gsf Pool/Physical Education Building and the construction of a 61,203 gsf addition. The new facility accommodates the College’s Physical Education program as well as the Allied Health programs.
The building will house the Allied Health programs, Athletics Programs, and Shared Space. The program specifies laboratory spaces – Nursing Simulation Laboratory, Nursing Skills Laboratory, EMS Laboratory, Radiology Laboratory, Surgical Skills Laboratory - as well as Task Training room, Debriefing room, athletic spaces, locker rooms, fitness center, exercise and yoga studio, gymnasium, multipurpose activity space, conference room, office space, and storage space.
The project has been designed to achieve the LEED-NC Silver rating, as defined in the LEED® Green Building Rating System™ for New Construction and Major Renovations. The team hopes to accomplish Gold by effectively managing the indoor air quality and construction waste throughout the project.
