Ford World Headquarters is a transformative research and development campus located on Ford’s Dearborn, Michigan, campus, designed to redefine how the automaker collaborates and innovates. Spanning approximately 2.1 million SF, this state-of-the-art facility serves as the centerpiece of Ford’s global modernization strategy, replacing the iconic Glass House headquarters and anchoring a revitalized campus that fosters speed, flexibility, and creativity.
The facility’s distinctive architecture features three interconnected hexagons linked by a Level 2 gallery, complemented by six themed courtyards inspired by Michigan’s natural landscapes. Inside, the building integrates advanced design studios, milling spaces, prototype labs, and a showroom, alongside collaborative zones. These elements create an environment where engineering, design, software development, and related teams can work side by side, accelerating product development and innovation.
Structural highlights include 29,000 tons of steel, or about enough to build four Eiffel Towers, and 22-inch slab-on-metal decks to support the heavy equipment and vehicles designed to move within the building. It also boasts 13 monumental staircases, 34 elevators, and modular design strategies to ensure the space remains future-proof.
Upon full completion in 2027, Ford World Headquarters will accommodate up to 4,000 employees, with an additional 14,000 within walking distance, creating a vibrant ecosystem for collaboration. Beyond its physical footprint, the development symbolizes Ford’s commitment to innovation, sustainability, and talent attraction.
