Stellantis Mack Avenue Paint Shop Earns LEED Silver Certification

Stellantis Mack Avenue Paint Shop Earns LEED Silver Certification

The U.S. Green Building Council has awarded the Stellantis Mack Avenue Paint Shop a silver certification for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED).

For a building to achieve LEED silver certification, it must earn between 50 and 59 points across various design and construction categories that judge the project. Categories include site sustainability, water efficiency, energy and atmosphere, materials and resources used, indoor environmental quality, innovation in design, and regional priorities.

The Mack Paint Shop is part of Detroit’s first new general assembly plant in about 30 years. Barton Malow self-performed civil, concrete, and steel on this 790,000 SF facility. The paint shop stands about 900 feet long and three stories high. Since coming online in early 2021, the plant has produced the all-new Jeep Grand Cherokee L and the next-generation Jeep Grand Cherokee.

LEED certification was developed by the U.S. Green Building Council to provide a framework for green building design, construction, operations, and performance. Learn more about Barton Malow’s commitment to sustainability here.
