First Look at University of Maryland Medical Center's $30 Million Neonatal Intensive Care Unit

University of Maryland Medical Center in July will open a $30 million neonatal intensive care unit to treat the most critically ill infants in the state.

The Baltimore hospital on Tuesday will hold a ribbon cutting ceremony for the new Drs. Rouben and Violet Jiji Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. With 37,000 square feet of space and 52 private rooms, the new NICU is three times the size of the old unit and designed to offer a personalized and safe environment for some of the hospital’s highest-risk patients and their families.
