Three Barton Malow Projects Receive 2010 AIA Arizona Design Awards

Tempe, AZ – October 5, 2010 — On September 25, 2010 AIA’s Arizona chapter announced the 2010 Design Award winners in three categories – Honor, Merit, and Citation. Over 100 submissions were reviewed before the selection committee selected the top 23 recipients. These projects represent design, planning and construction excellence throughout Arizona in both commercial and residential applications.

Barton Malow is the only contractor to be associated with three award-winning projects this year:

Scottsdale Community College Natural Sciences Building – Honor Award Recipient
Architect: Richärd + Bauer
The building is designed as a series of simple lab pavilions organized around a series of interconnecting courtyards. Shaded exterior walks thread through the sequence of courtyards minimizing the dependency on interior circulation.

Paradise Valley Community College Life Sciences Building – Merit Award Recipient
Architect: Marlene Imirzian & Associates
Interlacing classrooms, a major campus walk, informal gathering spaces and a campus green under a single roof, fosters interaction between the entire college community

Prescott Valley Library + Yavapai College – Merit Award Recipient
Architect: Richärd + Bauer
Located in the high desert of Northern Arizona, the Prescott Valley Public Library is a 55,000 square foot joint-use facility encompassing a public library, a public auditorium, classrooms and offices for the community college. The public library and community college spiral around the core providing flexible use and access.

Congratulations to the project teams that worked together to bring these great designs to built reality!
