Barton Malow Company Completes Canyon Power Plant

ANAHEIM, CA –– Barton Malow Company, along with members of the City of Anaheim, recently participated in ribbon cutting ceremonies at the Canyon Power Plant located in Anaheim California.

The Plant was conceived by PB Power, SCPPA, and the City of Anaheim but engineering, procurement and construction services were Barton Malow’s responsibility. Barton Malow finished the construction of the project in just 19 months. The scope of the project included the installation of four GE LM6000 PC Sprint CTG package units, four emission control modules, four continuous emissions monitors, and four set-up transformers. In addition to his equipment the project also required 20’ wall that surrounded the entire 10 acre site.

Some buildings on the site, namely the control building, received LEED™ Silver status. This designation was achieved by taking such environmental initiatives as using reclaimed water on site, the installation of solar panels, and a geothermal cooling system.

The Plant has the capability to provide energy to 150,000 residents in the City of Anaheim during peak hours. Southern California Power Plant Authority stated that the project “Has the power capability to make a difference between forcing customers to turn off their electricity use completely, versus using electricity more wisely during the hot summer months.”
