The Critical Care Tower for Children's Hospital of Michigan Awarded to Brinker / Barton Malow Team

Detroit, MI –– The Brinker / Barton Malow team is pleased to announce that we have been awarded the Critical Care Tower for Children's Hospital of Michigan. The $100M project will consist of a six-story patient tower and the reconfiguration all of its double-occupancy rooms to private rooms.

The Critical Care Tower for Children's Hospital of Michigan is a multi-phase project that will consist of the temporary relocation of the existing Emergency Department and medical records group located within the Holden wing of Children’s Hospital to facilitate the existing Holden wing demolition. Demolition activities will also include the removal of the existing Ronald McDonald facility, which will be relocated. Temporary construction will occur for the creation of a temporary main entrance to facilitate the main entry drive rework and new lobby addition. New construction will include the addition of the new 175,000 s.f. Critical Care Tower, subsequent renovations of existing Pre/Post OP and Surgical Support space, and subsequent renovations of the existing Emergency Department.

“It’s exciting to see the Children’s Hospital of Michigan Critical Care Tower program move forward. This is an important project for DMC and the Brinker / Barton Malow team is excited to partner in the success of this challenging program,” said Don Davis, Vice President, Barton Malow.

“The partnership between Brinker and Barton Malow is a proven team that brings leadership, diversity and a strong understanding of the Children’s Hospital of Michigan. The Brinker / Barton Malow team has healthcare experience on identical building programs that include critical care bed towers, emergency department and complicated phased renovations.
