Barton Malow Breaks Ground on the St. Joseph's Women's Hospital NICU

Tampa, FL – June 11, 2010 – Construction Manager Barton Malow Company has been awarded the St. Joseph's Women's Hospital Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) project in Tampa, Florida. The 22-month project, scheduled for a 2012 completion, broke ground on Wednesday May 19, 2010 on the St. Joseph's Women's Hospital campus.

The St. Joseph's Women's Hospital NICU is a 125,000 SF new addition to the Children's Hospital portion of the existing Women's Hospital. This construction management at-risk project is a 5-story patient tower that will feature women's ancillary services, an imaging suite, 64 NICU beds, and 52 acute care beds.

The neonatal beds will each be in private suites with support spaces for families, overnight accommodations and an individualized environment to improve the developmental process and the growth of the neonates. In addition, the scope includes an overhead bridge connecting the St. Joseph's Hospital to the St. Joseph's Women's Hospital which currently share this campus. The project is currently registered under LEED version NC 2.2, seeking Silver Certification.
