Outreach

Our Community Engagement Program opens doors — connecting local contractors and residents to real opportunities on our projects. We’re committed to meaningful involvement, not just participation.

Outreach

We employ outreach strategies to actively identify and engage local, diverse subcontractors, guiding them toward successful participation in our projects.

Our experienced team prioritizes collaboration with local firms, understanding the importance of maximizing participation from local and disadvantaged business enterprises. We proactively identify and award subcontractor and supplier opportunities in a systematic and transparent manner.

Our active involvement in community outreach has led to measurable successes in business and workforce inclusion, underscoring the effectiveness of our efforts in fostering equitable growth and development within the communities we serve.

Our program includes, but is not limited to, the following types of businesses:

  • Minority Business Enterprise (MBE)
  • Women Business Enterprise (WBE)
  • Small Business Enterprise (SBE)
  • Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE)
  • LGBT Business Enterprise (LGBTBE)
  • Veteran and Service Disabled Veteran Owned Business

  1. Complete a Project Registration Form by selecting a project below.
  2. Engage with our project team by attending targeted business outreach events or scheduling a one-on-one meeting.
  3. Complete the pre-qualification process.

We encourage eligible firms to obtain local and state certifications in advance, as our project team will require them prior to submitting bid proposals. Please connect with us regularly for project updates, webinars, and general program information.

Contractor Capacity Building

Launched in 2022, we launched the Motor City Contractor Fund (MCCF), a business growth initiative offering technical assistance and affordable lending to Detroit-based contractors. Participants receive 3-6 months of support, including coaching and resources. Our goal is to expand MCCF nationally. Several Barton Malow team members contributed to the pilot by sharing their expertise through training modules, master classes, and mentorship. We appreciate all who have supported MCCF.

Our Partnerships with Indigenous Peoples

Barton Malow Canada has worked on many projects located on native lands and within First Nations reserves. We always prioritize local approval and support, particularly when hiring for these projects. Regardless of our project location in Canada, we continue to hire Indigenous contractors and laborers when available.

Projects with Business + Workforce Inclusion Goals:
