The Barton Malow Foundation

The Barton Malow Foundation was established in 1954. Since then, Barton Malow has donated 5% of annual earnings to charitable organizations. Aligned with Barton Malow’s core purpose, the Foundation’s goal is to build people, projects, and communities, stemming from a long history of company leaders with a shared common goal: an extraordinary dedication to community service.

Building Communities

Partners accepting a check from the Building Communities Golf Classic

In 2014, the Foundation began to expand its role in the company and its presence in the community with a number of new initiatives. That year, the Foundation hosted its first Building Communities Golf Classic, raising almost $250,000 with the generous support of our partners, subcontractors, and suppliers. The annual Building Communities Golf Classic is now a highly anticipated sold-out event.

To increase charitable giving in the areas surrounding all of Barton Malow’s offices, each region of the company has implemented Foundation fundraising events. Our successful regional fundraisers have included the following events: a Drive Shack fundraiser in Richmond, VA and Orlando, FL; a golf outing in Baltimore, MD; and an annual Clay Shoot in Orlando, FL.

At the end of 2014, the Foundation rolled out the Build Your Community Team Member Giving/Match campaign in which team members were given the opportunity to contribute to the Foundation via payroll deduction. Their contributions were then available for them to donate—plus a dollar-for-dollar match from the Foundation—to the non-profit organization of their choice. This program continues to grow and has increased our employee giving to more than 100 causes that matter to them.

Community Week

Barton Malow team members volunteering for Community Week

In addition to our financial contributions, our team members donate their service and time as compassionate community members where they work, live, and play. Our Community Week takes place the first week in August and gives all team members a chance to spend a day helping others at more than 70 different pre-planned volunteer activities across the company and country.

“We’re so proud to have team members who share a desire and make it a priority to serve non-profit organizations, with many doing so in leadership positions.”

Doug Maibach, Foundation Trustee and Chairman of Barton Malow Enterprises.
