SMPS Central Florida Diversity Equity and Inclusion Event Featuring Barton Malow Senior Director of Community Engagement Dannis Mitchell

The SMPS Central Florida Chapter is thrilled to announce a compelling three-part series dedicated to exploring Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) within the AEC Industry. This series aims to shed light on the significance of promoting a culture that champions DEI principles and implementing tailored programs that meet the diverse needs of clients, partners, and consultants. An evident shift towards prioritizing DEI is underway, and research highlights that companies making it a priority are significantly outperforming their competitors. Discover invaluable tools and resources to elevate your company’s DEI efforts to the next level. Please be aware that the programs in this series will be a blend of in-person and virtual experiences.

In Part 1 of the Series, titled “The Impact of Inclusion,” we invite you to join Dannis Mitchell, Senior Director of Community Engagement at Barton Malow. Dannis will provide a unique perspective on DEI by examining it through the lens of project management. She will delve into strategies for setting yourself up for success, exploring best practices related to:

  • Understanding Your Clients
  • Developing Project-Specific Programs
  • Fostering Supplier Diversity and Inclusion in the Trade Workforce

As the leader of Community Engagement, Dannis Mitchell collaborates with clients nationwide to align Barton Malow with project opportunities that reflect the organization’s core values and business development strategy. Dannis actively builds and strengthens relationships with key stakeholders, including developers, union representatives, city council members, county commissioners, MBE, WBE, Small and Veteran-Owned subcontractors and suppliers, community development organizations, educational institutions, and more. Leading a team dedicated to increasing supplier diversity and equity in the skilled trades, Dannis supports Barton Malow’s business and workforce development initiatives across all offices and the 41 states that the firm has experience in.
