McLaren Greater Lansing Earns 2023 AGC Build Michigan Award

best Michigan healthcare project - McLaren Greater Lansing

The Barton Malow-Christman joint venture was one of four 2023 Build Michigan honorees, cementing it as a top Michigan healthcare project.

The McLaren Greater Lansing Replacement Hospital in Lansing, Michigan, has been named one of four Build Michigan Award winners, recognizing it as a top Michigan healthcare project. Built by the Barton Malow-Christman joint venture, the nine-story, 562,000-SF, 240-bed hospital began treating patients in 2022. Representatives from Barton Malow and Christman formally accepted the honor at the AGC of Michigan’s annual meeting on Friday, March 3.

Located on Michigan State University’s Corporate Research Park, the project implemented Lean construction practices from preconstruction through execution and prefabricated much of the building’s interior wall and mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems, which helped streamline the project schedule and reduce the number of on-site trades.

The Build Michigan Award was established in 1995 to recognize project team excellence. McLaren Greater Lansing also earned a National Award of Merit from the Design-Build Institute of America in September 2022.
