Barton Malow General Foreman George Eschker has been named The Association of Union Constructors’ (TAUC) James J. Willis Craftsperson of the Year, an annual honor recognizing outstanding labor-management cooperation and quality craftsmanship in the construction industry.
George formally accepted the award on Thursday, May 15, at TAUC’s Construction Leadership Conference in Isle of Palms, South Carolina.
A member of LIUNA Local 1076, George started his career in formwork and concrete and began working at Barton Malow in 2010. With over 14 years of experience in the construction industry, George has worked in a variety of sectors, from solar to gas and battery cell manufacturing. Most recently, he worked on the BlueOval SK Battery Park in Glendale, Kentucky, which was also recognized as the 2025 TAUC Project of the Year.
George’s exceptional leadership and innate ability to build strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and team members have made him a go-to tradesman on many of Barton Malow’s large-scale projects. Last year, George was recognized as Barton Malow’s Craftsman Award Winner for his commitment to quality workmanship, supporting a strong safety culture, and demonstrating pride for the trade and its advancements.
