Said Differently – Beyond the Build: John Stewart

Barton Malow Company Quality Manager John Stewart

In this Veteran’s Day episode of our team member Q+A series, we get to know mid-Michigan Quality Manager and United States Marine Corp. veteran John Stewart (and his service dog, Scout).

From Camden Yards in Baltimore, Maryland, to the Center at Belvedere in Charlottesville, Virginia, the Said Differently podcast has brought you the untold stories from the construction jobsite. The new Said Differently – Beyond the Build series takes listeners into the lives and careers of the people behind the projects.

After retiring from the Marine Corp. in 2014, John Stewart worked for various employers before finding a true home with Barton Malow about three years ago. John and his service dog, Scout, are currently on the Ultium Cells project in mid-Michigan.

In the latest episode of Said Differently – Beyond the Build, John discusses his role as a mid-Michigan Quality Manager and also the importance of mental health, especially among military veterans. John also talks about how adopting a service dog has helped benefit his mental health and how the culture at Barton Malow has welcomed both of them with open arms onto every jobsite.

John is also a member of the Veterans Team Member Network at Barton Malow, a group that connects active, separated, and retired military veterans and their family members to share stories, perspectives, and provide advice and information on resources.

You can also read more about John, his role as a Quality Manager, and a few fun facts on our Careers page.
