The new Atlanta Braves Spring Training complex, CoolToday Park, includes a 6,500-seat stadium and 2,500 general admission spaces. The complex also features a clubhouse, training facilities, offices, and a sports medicine academy. In addition, the site includes six baseball fields, two half-fields, five soccer fields, and parking across the property.
The stadium outfield mirrors the design of Truist Park, the Atlanta Braves’ home stadium, also built by Barton Malow. For this project, Barton Malow partnered with Tandem Construction to deliver the complex for Sarasota County and the Atlanta Braves. Barton Malow also self-performed concrete work on the project.
Exceeding Cost + Schedule Expectations
Barton Malow exceeded the cost-reduction target by more than $68,000. The team removed over $12 million in potential costs. However, the team maintained the design intent and facility operations.
Construction began in January 2018 with the first stadium footing. The team completed the project before opening day in March 2019. As a result, the Braves opened their spring season in the new facility.
