Livingston County Countywide Fiber Network Installation

Livingston County

In recent years, the majority of the K12 public school districts in Livingston County, Michigan, installed their own private optical fiber networks to interconnect their respective schools within the district. The County reached out to Barton Malow to act as technology contractor and design another fiber-optic network to connect emergency response facilities with K12 throughout the region. Using the existing network already installed by the schools, Barton Malow’s Technology Services team was able to stretch grant dollars and also connect the school buildings to municipal and emergency response facilities.

The end result is a county-wide network that effectively shares and improves resources. Networks from three county school districts were utilized to extend connectivity beyond the school buildings to municipal offices, police stations, fire stations, and EMS facilities in 10 county townships.
