Barton Malow along with their design partner, the DLR group, provided the design and construction of the Outdoor Event Venue + Tailgate Park, ‘The 49th Acre’, for the University Foundation. The Park is a beautiful, three-acre park that creates a game-day environment of excitement and celebration. The park is located on the UNC Charlotte Millennial Campus, which allows for an easy walk to Jerry Richardson Stadium. The Outdoor Event Venue + Tailgate Park provides a venue that encourages UNC Charlotte students to attend games. The project included:
- 5,000 SF Entertainment Pavilion and space to accommodate more than 2,500 students
- Entrance defined by a signate gateway portal
- Hardscape pathways to match the campus vernacular and open green areas to support tailgating spots
